Climate change, really?! Every time I think I have seen and heard everything, I am once again reminded how wrong I am. This article on the CNN website, came to my attention, today and once again sex sells. Climate change is killing our sex drive, bringing down U.S. birth rate, study says.
Of course, I was curious and clicked on the link. I quickly learned I was lured in by the word sex.

Climate change and sex
The overall purpose of the study was looking how fertility rates are affected by temperatures over 80 degrees. In other words when temperatures were above 80 degrees, nine months later there was a sizeable reduction in birth rates.
Digging a little deeper and I learned the National Bureau of Economic Research published an article and they were looking at the birth rate decline over a 70-year period from 1931 to 2010. They were not sex researchers trying to understand if climate change has impacted men’s and women’s sex drives.
I am not in disagreement with the actual research findings by the NBER; however, I strongly disagree with the heading of the CNN article.
This is typical; rely on the word sex to draw people in. Let’s stop the sex myths publicized by the media. The article climate change is killing our sex drive does not truly discuss a person’s lack of desire to have sex due to climate change.
Climate change cannot be added to your list of excuses to not have sex. The typical reasons remain unchanged I have a headache, I don’t feel well, and I’m in the middle of binge-watching Game of Thrones… how about tomorrow night?
