M is for masturbation, M is the letter for this month, and M is also for ME. Masturbation is encouraged and celebrated during the month of May. Masturbation is a form of self-love. Self-love through sexual touch. In case, you’ve never had the term masturbation defined for you, it means to stimulate one’s own genitals for sexual pleasure.
How many of us do this behavior frequently? This question is directed primarily at females. Most females are unaware of exactly what type of touch pleases her vulva, vagina, or clitoris. They’re typically unaware of what turns them on such as choosing between watching or reading erotica.
There is a feeling of shame surrounding the topic of masturbation as is most topics involving sex. Masturbation at one time was considered a mental health issue. We now accept it is as a normal behavior unless it is done in public or somehow it negatively affects sexual behavior alone or with a partner.
Self-love via Masturbation
During Covid-19, masturbation is technically your safest way to enjoy sex without a regular partner. This is a good time during this pandemic to learn or relearn what turns you on. There are several questions to get answers to during your self-love time. Such as:
What type of touch brings you to have an orgasm. Is it clitoral, vaginal, anal, or all 3 at once? Are you aware of what your erogenous zones are? Erogenous zones are parts on your body that when touched and caressed help with your sexual arousal. Do you know which ones to touch, pull on, or caress to help assist in sexual arousal? Sexual arousal is the process the body goes through before having an orgasm such as swelling of the nipples and increased heartbeat. Sexual arousal is when the brain is involved (the brain is the largest sex organ).
Masturbation regardless of what month it is a good way of reconnecting with yourself. Learning what you like or not; assists you in discovering and teaching what to communicate with your partner about your likes and dislikes during sex. Masturbation has the same benefits as having sex such as reducing stress and improving all over sex quality. No pun intended.
