It can be hard to take the first step when you know no one who does. Amina Peterson Sex-Positive Icon

She is the originator of the Atlantic Institute of Tantra and Divine Sexuality. She is a healer, sex doula, closeness mentor, and tantric sex teacher. Amina can be seen on the Netflix show Sex, Love, and Goop, where she helps couples achieve closeness and intimacy through various exercises and practices. Amina believes that “intimacy is God’s work”. She also refers to herself as Goddess Amina, which I think is a great way we can see ourselves, as wonderful beings. She was a wonderful guest on Kiss & Tell recent podcast.
Lady Gaga Sex-Positive Icon

Lady Gaga never fears to talk about sexuality in an artistic way or any other form. She liberates sexual being through her music videos. She speaks up about her sexual assault experience as a teen. She even released a track “Till It Happens” inspired by the incident.
In her music and past, she has always supported everyone as a sexual being, including their sexuality, gender, and whoever they are. Gaga doesn’t care about who you are and what you came from, she just wants all her friends and everyone to embrace themselves. She takes an extremely creative approach when creating her songs that showcase sexuality and sexual story. Even though many are against her creativity, she doesn’t let that stop her.
Halle Berry Sex-Positive Icon

Halle Berry is an advocate for sex toys. She says in this quote to remember women are sexual beings, “Make regular visits to pleasure your chest! You can’t forget your sexuality. You can still embrace your body by going to the gym or The Pleasure Chest.” Her support for sex toys shows that even celebrities need some self-love too. Her new film Bruised is an opportunity to stop objectification based on looks. She wanted the story to speak for itself and for people to focus on the main character’s journey, portrayed by her.
She isn’t in her usual ‘beautiful’ appearance, she is battered and bruised, a woman fighting. Halle Berry shows that women can be beautiful even like this and that the point isn’t always beauty, to begin with. I can understand her intention of showing the other layers to a woman and appearance isn’t a priority.
Amber Rose Sex-Positive Icon

Amber Rose created her Slut Walk Movement which is a transnational movement calling an end to rape culture victim blaming and slut shaming of sexual assault victims. Her podcast Loveline is a sex-positive platform where she discusses all things sex-related. It also helps reduce the stigma about sexual topics and rape. Her voice has given women so much power to be sexually freeing and to help one another spread awareness about rape and victimizing.
Jada Pinkett Smith Sex-Positive Icon

Jada Pinkett Smith is a powerful sex icon due to her creation of Red Table Talk, a Facebook Watch series where three points of view of three different generations have open conversations about everything and anything, no filters. The idea came about when she wanted to discuss with her daughter, Willow Smith, all these questions she was having about herself, her mother, and more.
They were having these talks with Jada’s mom in the mix, way before the show debuted in 2018. This became an opportunity to really expose the vulnerable moments in the Smith household, for her as a mother, woman, sexual being, an imperfect person. She has laid out everything on that table, including her sex life. She has talked about the highs and lows of her marriage and sex life with Will Smith.
“Tell me what you need, tell me what you want, and on top of it, I know that I have to be accountable to do the same. I really try [to do that],” she explained. “[Especially], I think, around sex, because it’s something that we don’t talk about a lot and there’s so much fantasy around it.” Jada acknowledges the rough road for many couples ahead when it comes to keeping intimacy alive. She is a sex icon for sharing vulnerability and her hardships of herself to the world. This encourages many women and men to speak up about their deepest thoughts.
Sex positivity is now a more open topic in this century. Many tend to shy away from it or haven’t found the right people to support them on their journey. There are several icons around the world who are promoting sexual topics as a form of discussion.
