You know that feeling when you’re trying to figure out something really personal like reigniting the spark in your relationship, dealing with intimacy after an illness, or even exploring different relationship styles and you just can’t find the right help? Well, imagine the professionals who could guide you through it are being silenced, shut down, shadowbanned, demonetized, or even completely erased from the internet. Crazy, right? But it’s not some sci-fi scenario; it’s happening right now in the world of sexual health and wellness.
I’ve been working as a sex and relationships expert for over seven years now, and I can’t tell you how many people have told me how hard it is just to find the right support. It’s frustrating like, when you finally muster up the courage to ask for help, and then…poof, the experts are gone.
And get this for almost six years, I’ve been running the Sexperts Business Community (SBC), and I’ve seen so many colleagues forced to censor themselves just to stay online. They have to swap out words like “sexual assault” with “S.A.” or “rape” with “grape” just to avoid getting flagged by the algorithm. It’s ridiculous! Why should we have to dance around words when we’re trying to help people with real issues?
Accounts with thousands sometimes tens of thousands of followers just disappear overnight. No warning, no explanation, no way to get them back. It’s beyond frustrating, and honestly, it’s dangerous. People end up lost, misinformed, and feeling even more alone.
It’s such a weird place to be in on one hand, we’re encouraged to talk openly about mental health and relationships, but on the other, we’re getting shut down for doing exactly that. So, what are we supposed to do? How do we keep helping people when the platforms designed for connection are working against us?
Who Profits from Censorship?
The answer lies in a toxic system of consumerism that thrives on insecurity, misinformation, and loneliness. Big organizations and corporations profit when people are uneducated, isolated, insecure, and unhappy.
They sell fleeting confidence through products: a designer dress to make you feel desirable, a flashy car to boost your worth, or even pharmaceutical solutions to mask deeper issues.
Social media giants like Meta capitalize on this system by profiting from advertising. If professionals succeed in educating and uplifting the public about self-worth, healthy relationships, and long-term well-being, fewer people will turn to these quick fixes.
Experts who challenge this narrative threaten the profits of these companies, which rely on exploiting vulnerabilities.
This type of censorship does not protect you or your children it profits from you.
How Do Big Organizations Oppress Sexual Health and Wellness Professionals?
Have you ever noticed the double standards?
Comedians freely share explicit jokes and stories, yet sex and relationship professionals who offer educational, life-changing content are censored.
Platforms like Meta and YouTube actively suppress these voices under the guise of “protecting the public.” Meanwhile, entertainment that trivializes or sensationalizes these topics remains widely accessible.
The oppression goes beyond shadowbanning and account deletions. Many professionals who rely on platforms like YouTube for income face demonetization as soon as their content is flagged. Appeals are slow, often futile, leaving professionals powerless.
These platforms hold all the control, silencing vital voices that could otherwise improve lives.

Who Suffers the Most from Censorship?
Censorship doesn’t just hurt professionals it impacts everyone especially marginalized communities. Women, LGBTQIA+ folks, BIPOC communities, and plus-sized individuals face higher rates of suppression.
That means fewer resources, less support, and a tougher road to empowerment.
Think about it…while platforms are silencing sexual wellness content, they’re allowing users to call women objects and label LGBTQIA+ people as mentally ill. They’re dismantling diversity and inclusion efforts left and right.
And while reproductive rights are under attack globally whether it’s Roe v. Wade in the U.S. or abortion laws tightening in the UK sex education is becoming harder to access.
This isn’t just about social media. It’s about control, and it’s creating a world where oppression grows and safety shrinks.
What Kind of Future Are We Heading Toward?
Are we heading into a world where dissenting voices are silenced, and those in power control the narrative? It’s like stepping into the pages of 1984 by Orwell, The Handmaid’s Tale by Atwood, or Brave New World by Huxley. The difference is that this isn’t fiction—it’s happening now.
The first trillionaire is set to emerge, wielding influence and wealth on an unimaginable scale.
Unfortunately, that individual is Elon Musk, a controversial figure whose actions often contradict his words. His immense carbon footprint flying in private planes does not match his spoken concern for the planet. His Nazi-like rhetorics, and growing political interference way beyond the USA – attacking the UK government, and promoting far-right parties in Germany highlight how unchecked power can shape a dystopian reality.
As censorship increases, so does the gap between those in power and the rest of society. Women’s rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, and racial equality are eroded.
Protesting—one of the few ways to challenge injustice—is also being restricted and under attack – especially in the UK, leaving the public with fewer avenues to fight back.

Why Does Censorship Harm Everyone?
When access to sexual wellness education is restricted, the impact ripples across society. Relationship-saving, even life-saving, knowledge is withheld, leaving people to struggle with stress, anxiety, and heartache.
Imagine the difference if more people had access to uncensored education and support. Happier, healthier relationships would lead to individuals showing up better in the world, creating a more compassionate and connected society.
Instead, as I and many of my colleagues have witnessed – many people spend years—even decades—searching for the right support. Those years are often filled with pain, confusion, and loneliness.
lifesexplicit changes this by making specialized knowledge accessible and empowering individuals to take control of their intimate and romantic lives.
