I would like to end March and to start April off with a little gratitude, thank you to all of our K&T readers and subscribers. I received so much positive feedback from you all regarding March’s Obsessions. Mostly applauding us for featuring businesses run by women but also happy to be celebrating women and their accomplishments.

Comments like; “It’s so refreshing to read articles that praise and support women. All too often in our society we place too much importance on the negative and rejoice in one’s failures.” “Thank you for the positivity!” -Amy G, Madison NJ.  My pleasure Amy, thank you for your feedback.

I also received several emails recommending female-run businesses. Some of you very passionately showing your support. And Yes, Ms. M I did get your 11 emails on your favorite company. You know who you are?

So, going forward with Weekly Obsessions, I will be featuring one or more businesses/products owned by women. Some of them recommended by you, our readers.

This week it seemed only fittingly to do a redo. Here is a brief summary of all the female businesses I featured for the month of March. ENJOY!!

Catbird Jewelry

I chose this company not only for their dainty, delicate jewelry but also for their spirit of giving back. To date, nearly $100,000 dollars have been donated to various causes by the Catbird Giving Fund. Not bad for a company that was started in her own kitchen. catbirdnyc.com

Women Of Color Owned Businesses 💋

💋The Lip Bar

Tired of the beauty industry idea of what beauty should look like and the lack of options for women of color, is why The Lip Bar was created. This CEO wasn’t going to take “no” for an answer. Even from the likes of Shark Tank. Good thing, because now her products are sold in Target stores nationwide. thelipbar.com

Created to debunk the myth that black girls don’t get sunburned or skin cancer. The answer is yes to both of those. The problem was creating a sunscreen without the heavy white residue. Job well done! Black Girl Sunscreen comes with an SPF of 30 and without the white residue of course. blackgirlsunscreen.com
